What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Portreath Beach is praised as a stunning Cornish gem with beautiful golden sand, clear waters, and dramatic coastal scenery. Visitors enjoy the convenience of nearby parking and amenities, as well as the opportunity for activities like swimming, surfing, and coastal walks. Some note the sand can be stoney, making it less ideal for traditional sandcastles, but it's excellent for dips and dog walks.
"Its a nice beach, with parking next to it.
There are a few visible caves.
There's also a cliff edge with good views..
The sand is indeed golden, but its quite stoney and pebbles are everywhere.
It wouldn't be what I'd consider a sand castle beach, however its great for a quick dip or dog walk."

"Pretty beach and coastline with wonderful coastal path to explore. We were lucky there was a competition on the beach including swimming, kayaking and surfing which we thoroughly enjoyed watching. Not much in the way of shops, however there is a chip shop, cafe, ice-cream parlour, surf shop, pubs and costumer further back behind harbour. Plenty of parking, bus stop, benches for relaxing and public toilets."

"This is probably one of the best beaches I have been to in the UK. We had a few days here over the summer, some of which were glorious sunshine and the others rainy as usual. On the sunny days we were on the beach most of the day. Lots of people but never felt too crowded. Like the fact it has an active lifeguard during the day. But the best part is the sea. It is beautifully clean and clear here and because the bay is very shallow for a considerable distance, you can wade out quite far and still have your feet on the sand."
