Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate Prudhoe Castle's historical significance and the opportunity to explore its impressive exterior grounds, including the barbican and gatehouse. The dog-friendly nature and scenic location are also highlights. However, some find the limited interior access and lack of on-site amenities disappointing given the admission fee.

"Prudhoe Castle occupies a naturally strong position guarding a vital crossing of the river Tyne.

You’ll witness Prudhoe’s great strength as you approach via the barbican, passing the picturesque mill pond and crossing the inner ditch to the formidable gatehouse.
..they have done a fair bit of work on this old girl to protect its integrity...she would've been a formidable castle in its day for sure in a great location...there is a small wooded area around it that would've shown you what it was like ... really enjoyed this one ..wasnt a long stop or the best castle but definitely worth a look"

"You are no longer able to go in the castle. With no date of when it will be open again
Be warned.
So the entrance they mean is that you are able to walk around the castle.
There is a very small free car park opposite the castle, possible 8 car spaces if people park sensibly.
There are no amenities on the outside, but we parked in the car park and walked up the hill to the main street and went to a local cafe for lunch"

LittleVixen9

"Not a member of English heritage so had to pay £10.50 each to visit. An absolute waste of money! We were invited to discover the 2 rooms open to the public on the 1st floor which consist of one room where children can do a puzzle and the other room with a couple of historic posters. There are no sign of any historic artefacts. The grounds of the castle are nice but all the rooms, included the Chapel, which I was looking forward to seeing, were locked. I am afraid it was quite a disappointment."
