Hey folks, I’ll be in Rainham (Kent) for work during the week - just a short meeting in the afternoon, and I’m flying out the next evening. That leaves me with quite a bit of free time, and I’d love to spend it out in nature. I’m not looking for anything touristy or…

Reviews Summary

Berengrave Nature Reserve is appreciated for its peaceful atmosphere and wildlife, particularly its lake and the remnants of its industrial past. However, many visitors are disappointed by the amount of litter and the overgrown state of some paths, which can detract from the natural beauty. Reddit

"This is a lovely little nature nature reserve that is a former chalk quarry.
As you walk through you can still see the remains of the wash mills.
There is a small lake at the far end that is full of wildlife.
There is loads of wild flowers growing and plenty of wildlife to see.

It’s a nice peaceful nature reserve that doesn’t get busy and perfect for a relaxing walk."

"We recently came across this place as recently we always look out for some new local places where we can take our furry son for a walk.
Well, to say it is small, it would say nothing. It took us around 40 min, if so, to cover the complete area.

The place looked unkept & wasn't clean, re: lots of rubbish was dumped by people everywhere, which I found very upsetting. :(

The lake was full of branches, which I think our Wolfdog was very happy about & tried to drug them out. So I guess he had some fun there! :)

At view points, all you would see, hmm, not much... is just the crowns of the trees. :)

The car park we used was designated for Motney Hill Nature Reserve & just walked from there."

"I parked at the small free car park for Motney Hill Reserve. Berengrave Nature Reserve was very close by and a short walk.
Perhaps it was the time of year but it was rather overgrown to the point some paths were impassable. There was a fair amount of litter and dumping evident which made it an eyesore.
Some paths were quite picturesque as I primarily went to take photos.
There are much better views at Motney Hill and Floors Wharf."
