Three weeks solo. December. No car. May I please have a reality check on my route.

I am more of a mercurial traveler in my habits, so I don't have an itinerary set in stone. I have some refundable tours and accomodations booked already, but by and large I only plan about a week in advance. Sometimes it inconveniences me, but I take it in stride and have…

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning coastal scenery and the incredible opportunity to see puffins and other seabirds up close. The unique upside-down lighthouse and the knowledgeable, friendly RSPB staff are frequently praised. Some visitors note the challenging walk to the centre and the potential for rough ferry crossings, especially in winter.

"We got a little sick on the ferry ride over, but I think it was worth it. The biggest draw is definitely the puffins; they’re very unique compared to most other seabirds and I really hadn’t seen anything like them. The staff here are friendly and helpful, pointing them out and giving more information about them. And the cliffs that they hang out on are gorgeous, too."

Tom Blaney

"Stunning place to visit. Found the volunteer who helped me a really nice guy. Unfortunately I’m disabled so couldn’t make it down to see the puffins. I knew this beforehand but I still wanted to be there with my friend. Would have loved if the RSPB could provide a live feed to a screen inside the centre. Then those who can’t get down at least have some experience of all the birds."

Paula Hanratty

"Such a great wee place to see lots of different sea birds, the upside down lighthouse is cool as well and there is information on it on all the different floors.

You get amazing views from here as well and RSPB staff and volunteers are amazing, they had so much knowledge and were also very friendly and helpful."
