What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the Rhoda McGaw Theatre to be a comfortable venue with good seating and legroom, conveniently located within the Peacock Centre. However, the primary drawback is the often confusing signage and directions to find the theatre entrance, which can cause stress for newcomers. The bar service has also been noted as potentially slow due to understaffing.
"My first visit.
Positives - air conditioned and comfortable seats.
Negatives - misleading directions as to how to actually get into theatre. It is located within the Peacock shopping centre and the store plans clearly state it in on the first floor. I followed directions and was also guided by centre staff. On arrival I - and many others -was told there was no admission there and to go out of the centre, walk round the outside and enter through the library. As I have mobility issues this was difficult and I arrived very hot and sweaty
The bar was understaffed with only 2 people and long queues. Constant announcements that the performance was starting in 5,4,3,2,1 minutes added to my stress.
The theatre need to address these issues."

"shame it is so difficult to find .great venue ,brilliant performance but what a performance it was to find it.didn't mind going all the way through the shopping mall and up the stairs etc etc etc when we could have far easier gone through the main ambassadors theatre .once you know where it is that's fine but for a newcomer it could have been very stressful if you were running tight on time .why on earth is it not made clear at the main theatre that you can reach the rhoda mcgaw through the main entrance ....needs sorting ,we could not have been the only ones to have had this problem"

"The theatre is nicely integrated into the shopping mall and car park. No need for an umbrella.
They take COVID seriously but there is no spacing of seats.
As a tall person, legroom is important. The theatre exceeded my expectations in this respect.
The White Christmas show is based on the film but just cannot compete with the lavish film sets and singer/actors such as Bing. It is a pleasant show, with a liberal amount of tap dancing and songs from the distant past, but no one stands out. I have to admit I kept nodding off in the first half, but the second half was better."
