"Nice area for walk, picnic, and get together.
Views are awesome, 3 tracks for walk, including one middle of the lake. One side lake and one side river. Nice view of mountains and forest from parking side of lake. Lot of sitting places. Parking available 0.9 £ per hour, need cash or through App. Need some maintenance and cleaning."

"Natural beauty spot! Lots of wildlife to view and a lovely maintained garden. Nice walking or running route, car park and cafe at the beginning with public toilets. Great for dog walking, family trip or just getting out."
Lauren Griffiths
"Etherow is a local nature reserve near the village of Romely, near Stockport. It is close to the Goyt Valley and is the starting point for the Goyt Way trail. The River Etherow flows through the park and is the source of the mill pond there.
Sat nav Etherow Park will find it.
The Park is well signed from the M60 and has ample paid parking (£3.60 for four hours), cash or on line payment. There is a large cafe there and full toilet facilities.
Maps show trails to the north and south of the lake there, plus an interesting one along the middle. Unfortunately, the middle one was blocked off at time if visit (March 2025), owing to extensive tree felling which, in turn, prevented access to the southern trail.
So it's an out and back trail at the moment but still a very good walk. Out of the park the path is wide and firm all the way up to an impressive Weir. No special clothing needed here, a perfect family walk.
From there the trail goes up through the beautiful woodlands of Ernocroft Woods, a good example of mixed woodland. Here it's narrow and rough - and very steep in places, all the way up to the turn around point on Glossop Road. So sturdy footwear is the order of the day, and don't be shy! Take your walking poles!
Once at the far side at the Glossop Road end, it is a turn round and back the way you came.
So, a walk for everyone, easy first section but a more challenging track if you are feeling brave. Lots of facilities and not too far off the beaten track.
Recommend!"
