What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the magical atmosphere and beautiful waterfalls of Fairy Glen Rosemarkie, describing the woodland walk as enchanting. While the parking is limited and the terrain can be challenging for some, the free entry and the opportunity to discover multiple cascades make it a highly recommended natural gem.
"Beautiful waterfalls with a fairly gentle walk, some slopes and quite narrow in places, not suitable for wheelchairs or people with mobility issues unfortunately. If you go from the carpark the bridge is blocked but the water is quite shallow to cross in places. From the beach just follow the path. There's more falls behind the ones you first reach up some stairs and across a platform that has no outer railings so not for those with vertigo."

"Amazing river and waterfall with a scenic walk through the woodland. Would recommend wearing walking boots or similar as you may have to cross the river by foot. Very beautiful scene. Wasn't extremely busy when I went."
Sam Buckley

The Magic of the Fairy Glen
The walk through the glen is a key part of the experience. It's a relatively short but rewarding journey, typically taking around 20-25 minutes to reach the first waterfall. The path winds through lush woodland, offering glimpses of the cascading water and the vibrant greenery. For those seeking more, continuing beyond the initial falls leads to further cascades, including the unique 'money tree,' a quirky landmark that adds to the glen's charm.
While the falls may not be massive, their beauty lies in their setting and the overall ambiance of the glen. The area is managed by the RSPB, highlighting its importance for local wildlife and conservation. Visitors often describe the energy here as refreshing and peaceful, making it a perfect escape into nature.
Navigating the Trails and Terrain
Recent reviews indicate that weather conditions can impact the trails, with instances of flooding and fallen trees affecting the path's integrity. While there might not always be clear signage for detours, other visitors often create makeshift paths. The glen features multiple waterfalls, and it's important to note that the first one encountered is not the last. Continuing further up the path, crossing a bridge, and ascending some stairs will reveal additional, often more secluded, falls.
For those who are adventurous, there are opportunities to get closer to the water, though some areas might lack outer railings, which could be a concern for those with vertigo. The small car park can be a bottleneck, so planning your visit for off-peak hours is a practical tip for a smoother experience.
