Reviews Summary

Rosyth Castle is appreciated for its impressive, remarkably intact 16th-century ruins and free entry. Visitors note its unique location next to a working harbour, offering interesting photographic opportunities. However, the grounds can be rough with trip hazards, and access is within a secure industrial area, requiring respectful exploration. Reddit

"This was the first historical site we had visited in 10 days of being in Scotland where we found parking, did not have to queue or buy a ticket. It is located next to the entrance to the harbour and the security guard for the harbour entrance gave us a quick history lesson on the site. This is a rough and ready site. The grass is long and there are many trip hazards. There was no access inside the ruin. Apart from that it was an excellent ruin to study the construction methods of the period."

Pat Bell

"Genuinely impressive castle ruins from the 16th century. Actually quite intact. Free to enter the grounds."

Harry Bean

"Slightly unwelcoming sign saying no trespassing. But it is easy enough to pop inside discretely. Not really much more to see inside than out. The other reviews capture it"
