"Very easy to use and access.
I booked with priority loading to save time coming on and off the ferry.
The whole thing was over in 1h but as this was my first time on a ferry, I loved it, great weather as a cherry on top 😊.
The staff were helpful and nice all along, both ways, highly recommend this company.
Isle of Wight is a beauty.
The views on the ferry are lovely."

"My partner and I took this ferry from Southampton to the Isle of Wight in midweek July. Staff are friendly and helpful, and everything is handled very professionally from the minute you show your ticket to the booth on entry to the drive off the ferry. You have to arrive 30 mins before your scheduled crossing time and wait in line. You are directed where to park on board, and you have to get out of your car.
There is plenty of seating where you get a good view both inside and outside. The ferry is very clean and well presented. Dogs have their own area to sit with their owners.
The ride across is very smooth and comfortable. You can buy food, drink and gifts on board but it is a little pricey so I'd advise bringing your own. You are given a cup for the machine if you want hot drinks too."

"Excellent service from start to finish. We had to change a vehicle at very short notice but they could not be more accommodating. Well done Red Funnel A"

Navigating the Solent: Ferry vs. Hovercraft
When choosing between the two, consider your priorities. If you're traveling with a car or prefer a more relaxed journey with ample time to enjoy the views and onboard facilities, the ferry is likely your best bet. If speed and a novel travel experience are paramount, the hovercraft is the way to go. Both options provide lovely views of the Solent and the approaching island, making the journey itself a scenic part of the trip.
Pro Tip: Ferry prices are dynamic and increase significantly closer to the travel date. Booking your tickets well in advance, especially for car crossings, is crucial for securing the best fares. Check the respective websites for Red Funnel and Wightlink (another ferry operator) for the most up-to-date pricing and schedules.
Maximizing Your Isle of Wight Ferry Experience
For those traveling with pets, specific pet-friendly areas are available, making the journey stress-free for you and your furry companions. While onboard catering is available, reviews suggest that bringing your own snacks and drinks can be a more budget-friendly option. Remember to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure to allow ample time for boarding and to secure a good spot.
Despite the generally positive experiences, some travelers have noted occasional issues like service cancellations or minor maintenance problems, such as non-working lifts. However, the overall sentiment leans towards a positive and efficient travel experience, especially when planned with advance bookings and an awareness of onboard costs.
