Reviews Summary

Scapa Beach is praised for its vast, firm sands at low tide, making it ideal for walking and shell collecting. Visitors appreciate the scenic beauty and the quiet, dog-friendly atmosphere. However, dining options are limited, and the weather can be unpredictable, so preparation is key.

"A storm was passing to the North of the islands when we visited the beach so we got a full frontal of a wind and tide surge right up to the breakwater so very little sand was seen but still a very scenic place , can imagine with the sun out this would be an ideal place to chill , a small parking area on the other side of the coastal road wouldnt take too many cars though"

Tork Mackenzie

"A very wide beach, when the tide is out. For shell pickers it's a heaven. When I was there a couple of people were marking out a very large sand maize. Which upon completion was instantly in use by dozens of kids with parents/guardians.Walking on the beach is easy as it is quite firm and one can walk from the car park area,if so inclined,to the beach at the far end, possibly a good mile. Dogs are welcome, but you must remove any deposits including your own litter. A public toilet is available on the beach road."

Paul Gorman

"Impressive place for the rememberance of the men who lost their lives by the sinking of the Royal Oak. It's a bit a pity that you can't see the site of the wreck, although this is only indicated by a bouy"
