Visitors find Puckpool Battery a charming spot with historical intrigue and pleasant coastal views. While parking can be expensive, the free entry to explore the battery and the dog-friendly beach are significant draws. It's often described as a lovely area for a short stroll and a visit to the cafe.
"Plenty of parking although quite expensive. We parked on roadside for free and walked.
Clean toilets.
Nice small park
And a bit of history."
Andrea Cole
"I love Puckpool park, I have been going there since I was a child and the old battery has always fascinated me, I remember when I was a child in the 1980's there was an aquarium inside one of the old bunkers which was free to enter, now long gone, but the memories away flood back every time I see the old battery especially since the remains of the aquarium are still there to this day visible though the bars of a locked gate. The war time history of Puckpool Battery is nicely explained and illustrated on signs around the structures which you are free to explore at your own leisure. There's plenty of parking but it is not free, it's pay and display."
