What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the immersive and interactive nature of Shrek's Adventure London, with many highlighting the engaging actors and fun fairytale worlds. It's particularly loved by families with younger children. However, some adult visitors, especially those not die-hard Shrek fans, found it less thrilling than expected, and the no-photography rule was a drawback for some.
"Unfortunately my least favourite of the 5 Merlin attraction pass, and I blame myself as I came in with big expectations as I love Shrek! And have watched all of the films 😅🫣 for a Shrek adventure you don’t see much of Shrek 😂 and is mainly led through the over characters as you crash into the forest and are on the run from the witches!
The attraction themes are grand and get stars for that definitely, with the actors doing a great job and so engaging and encouraging with the kids! I enjoyed the bus “ride” at the start of the journey.
Although a perfect attraction for children aged 14 and under, this is a character led experience very much aimed at a younger audience.
The fact that you couldn’t take photos took part of the enjoyment away for me, being a person that loves to document their travels, I don’t have much photos other than the dreamwork exhibition (although I love kungfu panda, Madagascar and how to train your dragon it didn’t fit in with the theme) for photo opportunities at the end and the corridors around the event!
I enjoyed what we did but left slightly somewhat dissatisfied as I imaged it would be much better than it was.
Would recommend for families with young children."

"We have visited this attraction previously but around 5- 6years ago. My eldest is grown and youngest old enough to enjoy now.
What an amazing attraction!! The staff, actors and immersive experience was just the reprieve needed after a grim day at legoland yesterday.
The staff - super polite, cheerful and helpful
Actors were fantastic even with our shy group! They didn't drop character once. Esmerelder even psychically guessed her marks name in one much to his disbelief..
Sleeping beauty dozed off even when no one was watching!
The crew for photos were fab and even in the shop, no one dropped the enthusiasm.
Pretty certain it was air conditioning as it was 24 - muggy - degrees outside but very comfortable throughout.
Will definitely be visiting again, the staff are a real credit to the attraction and very commendable!"

"Wow, what a fantastic experience! We went as a family and it honestly exceeded our expectations – everyone loved it. The mirror maze was an absolute highlight; we even managed to get lost in there (and we weren’t the only ones!), which had us all laughing. The actors were brilliant, really throwing themselves into their roles and making the whole adventure feel so real and immersive. The only shame is that filming isn’t allowed – this is the sort of experience you’d love to capture on video to watch back again. Still, it was exciting, entertaining and full of great memories. Highly recommend!"

From there, guests navigate through various iconic Shrek locations, encountering challenges and characters along the way. The attention to detail in the set design and the actors' commitment to their roles are frequently praised, creating a believable and entertaining environment. While photography is restricted in most areas to maintain the magic, this encourages visitors to be fully present and soak in the experience.
Character Interactions and Actors
While you'll encounter many familiar faces from the Shrek films, the experience is not solely focused on Shrek himself. Donkey, Puss in Boots, Fiona, and other characters play prominent roles, ensuring a diverse range of interactions. The actors' ability to adapt to different group dynamics, including shy children, is a testament to their skill and contributes to the overall positive atmosphere. The energy and commitment of the cast are consistently highlighted as a major strength of the attraction.
Family Fun and Target Audience
While adults can certainly enjoy the spectacle and the humor, the overall tone and complexity of the narrative are geared towards a younger demographic. Visitors who are not die-hard Shrek fans might find it less captivating than younger family members. However, the positive atmosphere, the actors' performances, and the sheer fun of being in a fairytale world make it a worthwhile outing for most families visiting London.
