Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Snelsmore Common for its beautiful natural landscapes, diverse walking trails, and the unique experience of seeing roaming ponies. The free parking and on-site cafe are convenient amenities. However, some find it can get crowded, and the nearby road noise can detract from the peacefulness.

"The park offers unrestricted access via numerous paths. Lots of space for dog owners, but they are discouraged from entering the large open heaths during nesting season. Many of the paths are graveled with steps where the going gets steep. The spaces are a mixture of woodlands and open heaths.

There are some ponies on site, their duty is to keep the vegetation down.

We saw a lovely collection of fungi in early October, ponies and a sundew flower.

The park is well-equipped for visitors, featuring a café and toilets, along with plenty of parking spread across several small car parks. The idea is that these amenities act to concentrate the majority of visitors in a few areas."

"An enjoyable late spring jaunt around the well maintained footpaths of the Snelsmore Common Country Park. Visited both Saturday and Sunday just after 8 pm. You do have to park in the front car park near the toilets as the main car park gets locked at 8 pm. You could tell that the daytime had been busy as the bins were overflowing, but at this time of the evening, there was hardly anyone here. There are plenty of routes to take that are easygoing, flat, and leisurely. The outer route path is especially good for dogs. You can find loops of 2 to 3 km easily completed within about an hour without rushing."

"Nice country park for family walk, even during winter. Definitely bring wellies as the pathway can become very muddy. Plenty car parks but some may have puddle in the middle of car parks after rain.

No entry fee, but donations are accepted via card payment near the cafe at the park entrance."
