What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Spud Wood is appreciated as a pleasant, accessible woodland area perfect for dog walking and gentle strolls, with the added bonus of free parking and proximity to the Bridgewater Canal. While some visitors note issues with dog waste and limited facilities, the overall sentiment is positive for a relaxed outdoor experience.
"Not loads going on here, but a very pleasant place to walk and everyone we encountered was friendly and the car park is free. Just a shame some tramps leave their dog poo/bags laying around. Disgusting behaviour."
Charlotte West
"Spud Wood is a small woodland area developed by the Woodland Trust from an area of old potato fields. Not hard to figure! I'd seen signs for it previously and had a couple of hours to spare on my way past so thought I'd take a look.
It's about one kilometer east of the village of Lymm, situated just south of the Bridgewater Canal so it is handy to tie into other trails in and around Lymm village.
The wood itself is more of a pleasant woodland short walk than an all-out hike and the paths are largely flat and firm. Ideal for dog walking and suitable for both wheelchairs and pushchairs. The route shown here is simply a trail around the outer edge of the woodland but there are lots of smaller paths running off if you want to explore. At the end of the southern branch is what appears to be an area for BMX riding, if this appeals.
There are few facilities here other than a free but small car park (20 cars). As stated, Lymm itself is close and handy to wander along the canal for lots of good cafes and pubs."

"A nice ride to the place on bike and a nice ride round the woods itself if you follow the canal you can get into Lymm aswell. Overall 4.5/5 stars"
