Reviews Summary
Visitors describe St. Lawrence Old Church as a beautiful, calm, and peaceful place, deeply cherished by its community. It's lauded for its historical significance and the sense of tranquility it offers, making it a worthwhile stop for those seeking a quiet reflection away from typical tourist hubs. Some note the lack of 'customer service' or 'trendy crowds,' but this is seen as part of its authentic charm.
"I don't know how to review an old church, no customer service and does not attract a trendy crowd. However, this is a beautiful, calm and peaceful place. Very well cared for and clearly cherished by the community. There is a simplicity about ancient places of worship. If you believe in God you will feel his presence. If you don't you will still have a feeling of peace and tranquility where you can sit and reflect.
It's interesting that Ventnor is bracketed by two really old churches, here and in Bonchurch. These were built when Ventnor was probably a couple of fishing cottages and a few boats dragged up on the beach. As a visitor, I think it is well worth trying to find the pre-Victorian Island and St Lawrence is a good place to start exploring."
