What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the historical depth and peaceful atmosphere of St. Stephen's Churches, often highlighting unique architectural features and the serene cemetery grounds. While some community events are noted, the overall experience is centered on the church's heritage and tranquility. Occasional mentions of less engaging events or variable opening times are minor points against the generally positive reception.
"A church in the Celtic Quiet Places scheme and so open during the day - excellent. Inside you'll find a small paddle giving some details on the parish history on one side, and a guide to the church on the other. This is an old church dedicated in 1259. Inside look for the door leading to the Monk's Room above the porch. The tower and porch (and parvis) were added in 1520. Outside do look for the two stone sculptures set in the east wall. They are part of the original Collegiate Church on this site so perhaps a thousand years old. The cemetery is large and peaceful with some benches."
