What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Steam Yacht Gondola for its beautifully restored engineering and the unique experience of sailing on a working steam yacht. The friendly and informative crew, coupled with the stunning scenery of Coniston Water, make for a highly recommended and tranquil journey. Some note the lack of onboard restrooms and the cost of parking as minor drawbacks.
"Really enjoyed this experience; two experiences really because you get a different feeling at the engine back end; the chugging the working of the engine, the fire being stoked: to the prow front end where you can quietly contemplate the views gliding past. Welcoming crew and informed and interesting commentary. A really beautiful piece of restored engineering. Highly recommend. Be aware no loos on board .. for those of us "of a certain age" either reckon that into your journey length of go beforehand in the cafe at the lakeside."

"Another national trust gem. Relaxing and informative cruise on a unique steam powered boat. You can move about, look at the engine working and talk to the Captain. There is a commentary by the purser where you will learn things of local significance, more than just the Donald Campbell story. No toilet on board but they are available near the car park. Consider parking in the village and walking their dogs 15min to the dock if you can."

"I would highly recommend this. The crew were all lovely and made the trip enjoyable. It was great. 10 out of 10 and I would definitely do it again"
