Well that was special for me. A solo visit to see Ian Cale's exhibition at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. What a special building housing a beautiful exhibition. It felt amazing walking into such a grand room and seeing all the art looking splendid in the solid oak frames and seeing all the hard work come to life in the space! A really lovely moment to see everything displayed so beautifully!...

"Extremely attractive Greek style building, with a marble paved hallway leading to the memorial wall plaques. Inaugurated 100 years ago by Prince Henry (son of King George V) to honour the thousands of local men who perished in WWI. The names of those who died in WWII and other subsequent conflicts have since been added. The building also houses the towns art gallery with regular exhibitions. Currently there's one regarding the end of the war in Europe whilst the war with Japan is still raging. Well worth a visit but check the limited opening times."

Nuts

"A most impressive building and very moving to see all the fallen listed in the hall. Its also a vibrant art gallery with friendly and helpful staff. There's a lift to the first floor where the large art gallery is. Well worth a visit."
