While the lack of facilities is noted, the free access and serene environment make it a cherished spot for many. Some caution is advised regarding evening visits due to potential disturbances.

"I love the fact that people of all types have a shared enjoyment of this wonderful place. Areas of natural beauty are few and far between these days but the meadows are wonderful in all weathers and every season. I wouldn’t however venture into this area in early evening as there are lots of feral children who hang about and cause distress to the cows and people just wanting to enjoy their own space. The river and all its fowl are wonderful to watch - I particularly love seeing all the dragonflies. Enjoy."

"A great place for walking, loads of paths through wonderful meadows which were covered in buttercups and looked lovely. Numerous rivers and streams , plenty of wildlife to see. There were cows in some places so keep dogs on lead if required.
We parked along the main road, not sure if there's a car park , but you can park here for free and no time limits. No facilities, toilets or cafe,"

"Beautiful water meadows set around the River Stour and bordered by the Valley Walk (old railway track) which skirts round the edge of the town to the railway station and connects through to Long Melford and Great Cornard.
A great range of circular walks through the grazing lands, please respect the cattle and be mindful of this wildlife habitat - note there’s no cycling or kite flying except on Friars meadow. My favourite place in the world ❤️"
