What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Swanage Museum and Heritage Centre for its free entry and rich local history displays, particularly its focus on the Jurassic Coast and seaside heritage. While small, it's considered a well-curated and informative stop, run by passionate volunteers. Some note its compact size, but most find it a worthwhile and engaging experience for its educational value and the opportunity to support a community-run attraction.
"The museum is free entry and it's 1 room, the size of an average shop floor, it's utilised with history boards, models, local stone method finishes, jurassic coast stuff, seaside heritage and seaside bygone. The time I was in the museum there were very few visitors, to support the museum you can either buy an item or give a small donation on the card reader."

"Interesting little place tucked away and run by volunteers. Great selection of gifts and postcards. A little video plays while you browse, telling about the local industry."
Ian Robinson
"A nice little interesting museum which is free to enter although there is a donation box and donations are welcomed.
There is a television screen with a recorded programme you can watch which is very good. There are also a lot of clear information boards and some small shop window displays. There are lots of things to see in cabinets and although it's not a big museum you could easily spend half an hour in here reading everything.
There's also lots of little trinkets to buy ranging from small fossils to jewellery to toys and games."
