Male #karen doesn’t like #landrover using the Ford, which is a road. This was this summer. . Tarr Steps is the location and we only crossed a few times. #malekaren was not happy.. tho everyone else loved seeing the vehicles in convoy crossing the Ford. We spent some money at the local tea shop on site and moved on. #youhavenopowerhere

Constructed from massive, flat stone slabs, some weighing over two tons, it spans the River Barle for approximately 55 meters (180 feet). Its exact origins are shrouded in mystery, with estimates placing its construction in the Bronze Age, potentially as far back as 1000 BC. Local legends even attribute its creation to a giant or the devil, adding to its mystique. Walking across this ancient structure offers a tangible connection to the past. Instagram+1

Visitors often describe the experience of crossing the bridge as unique and awe-inspiring. The sheer scale of the stones and the way they are interlocked to form a stable crossing are a testament to the ingenuity of our ancestors. It’s a popular spot for photographers and history enthusiasts alike, offering a glimpse into a bygone era. Instagram+1

It's important to note that the bridge can be slippery, especially after rain, so sturdy footwear is highly recommended. The surrounding natural beauty of Exmoor National Park only enhances the experience, making the Tarr Steps bridge a truly memorable landmark. Instagram
