Reviews Summary

Visitors generally find the Teign Heritage Centre to be a great museum with helpful and knowledgeable volunteers, particularly enjoying the unique VR headset experience and the interesting local artefacts. While most experiences are positive, a few visitors have noted instances of less-than-ideal staff interactions regarding disability inquiries.

"We've walked past many times, but we called in on Sunday. What a great museum the staff are really helpful, you must try the VR headset experience."

David Lock

"Lovely little museum with extremely friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Has shop, loo, lift and lots of local artefacts. I never knew that the French had attacked and destroyed Teignmouth in 1690, mistaking it for Plymouth. Very interesting exhibits across two floors with an outdoor roof terrace proffering rooftop views."

"Visited with two friends, one on holiday from the U.S.A. (3/10/2025
I noticed the price list at the till, and saw Disabled £2.50. So I asked for a disabled entrance fee. The person on the till asked me "Are you disabled ?" With a bad attitude.
Staff should not ask "Are you disabled?" as it is an inappropriate and potentially illegal question under equality law.
I was mortified in front of my friends, and it felt very rude.
I even showed her my disabled rail card.
Having worked at Powderham castle in visitor services I would never dream of asking such a question.

Enjoyed the museum though."
