What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise The Greenyards for its rich rugby history, particularly as the birthplace of Rugby Sevens, and its welcoming, hospitable atmosphere. The scenic location in the Scottish Borders is also a significant draw. However, some experiences during large events can be marred by noise and logistical issues, with one reviewer noting a less-than-ideal setup for junior matches on farmland.
"Melrose Rugby Club has a rich history and is a must visit if you are in the Scottish Borders.
Melrose is the honestly of rugby 7s and was founded here.
Great people involved throughout the club and very hospitable."
Chris McMillan
"Went to Melrose for the u18 invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday we were stuck out on a field on some farmland, in a valley, surrounded by rolling hills and lush green trees so that the big boys and girls could play at the stadium, with the bars and food and suchlike. It was actually rather nice.
Sunday! We were at the stadium! Imagine the excitement!
Well, our games were played to the soundtrack of grumpy hungover folks, pulling down the entertainment and drone of generators pumping Saturdays waste from the umpteen thunder boxes about the place, getting them ready for collection! Top stuff!"
Derek Hill
"Worked here with go fibre ( on the go fibre food side) did go over for a spectate brilliant area cracking atmosphere!"
