What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Hind Hotel offers a historic coaching inn experience in a prime town centre location. Guests often praise the comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and included breakfast. However, potential visitors should be aware of the small car park and possible noise from weekend nightlife, with some reviews noting inconsistencies in cleanliness.
"Stayed here one night while on business in the area.
Room was fantastic bed was very comfy and the shower was brilliant.
Check was excellent the lady there was very helpful.
Car park is very small and if you’re not careful you will get blocked in, just bear it in mind.
Can imagine it gets rowdy at the weekend as it bang in the centre, but mid week was fine and I slept well."

"An old and characterful coaching inn with all the benefits and some disadvantages of a town centre location. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly, kind and helpful. Our room had a good view of the town centre but the period iron casement windows could not deflect the lively Friday nighlife."

"It just shouldn’t be a hotel. It’s a loud rowdy pub with a live music venue next door so it’s not peaceful but I would have been able to deal with that had the room been clean but it was awful. We had booked two nights for a wedding in Wellingborough, left at midnight on the first night as there was so much noise from downstairs and we were just fed up at this point. Everything in the room was dusty, heavy cobwebs on walls and windows. Thick dust in lamps. Just puts you off as you question whether the bed and towels are clean Just complete lack of care and attention to what guests staying would deem as bare minimum. Whole place stank of stale smoke. I’ve stayed in better hostels. And for two nights it was 200 quid which isn’t even that cheap. I think that fact that I was willing to lose out on 200 quid and book another hotel speaks for itself."

A Glimpse into History
While the exterior and general atmosphere evoke history, the interior aims to blend this with modern comforts. The description highlights that rooms come with amenities like free WiFi and breakfast, ensuring a degree of contemporary convenience. This juxtaposition of old and new is a defining characteristic of The Hind Hotel, aiming to provide a comfortable stay within a historic setting. It's this blend that many guests seek when choosing such a unique accommodation.
Navigating the Town Centre Location
However, this central positioning comes with a trade-off: potential for noise, especially on weekend nights. Reviews indicate that the lively Friday and Saturday nightlife can be quite audible within the hotel. For light sleepers or those seeking absolute tranquility, this might be a consideration. Mid-week stays, on the other hand, are reported to be much quieter, offering a more peaceful experience. Planning your visit during weekdays can help mitigate noise concerns.
Room Comforts and Considerations
While many guests have positive experiences with their rooms, it's worth noting that reviews on cleanliness can be inconsistent. Some visitors have reported issues with dust and cobwebs, leading to questions about the overall upkeep. This suggests that while the hotel offers the basics for comfort, the attention to detail in cleaning might vary. If cleanliness is a top priority, it might be advisable to check recent reviews or contact the hotel directly for reassurance.
