"What a lovely place to visit! Iโve been going to Scarborough for many years but until today I had never visited the Mere.
I had walked up to the War Memorial then came down to the Mere from Jackson Lane and had great glimpses as I came down the hill.
I didnโt walk around the entire perimeter but chatting to a couple of locals I gather it is about a mile.
There were lots of (very vocal) birds on the Mere including swans, geese and moorhens.
It was really lovely to see how well it is used: young families, walkers, dog walkers and fishermen were all there today.
I know there is a cafe there but I didnโt go far enough around to visit it.
Well worth another visit but if not in a car I would probably take the bus up Seamer Road rather than walk from town as itโs a very busy, noisy road with very little of interest to see.
NB Take sensible shoes when visiting as thereโs the potential for a lot of bird poo and the paths are likely to become muddy and slippery in poor weather."
