What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life is praised for its extensive and engaging exhibits, particularly the impressive steam locomotive and interactive elements that delight families. While the entry fee and ticketing process have drawn some criticism, the dedication of the volunteers and the overall historical depth make it a highly recommended visit for anyone exploring Devon.
"This is such an essential experience for anyone visiting Devon. It covers everything since prehistoric periods with an emphasis on how people lived. Open the whole year with Tourist Information also on offer, it hugely added to my enjoyment of visiting Devon."
Peter Swales
"We visit lots of museums all over the south west and this is one of our absolute favourites. We have 6 children ranging from 3-17 and they all love it here. It's so well thought out and there are lots of things for the children (and grown ups) to interact with the whole way around. The little backpacks and ride on toys mean that we get to spend time with the older children looking at exhibits and no one gets bored!"
Charlie Curtis
"I took a star off for the ridiculously high entry fee. It is a bit better than some similar museums, partly due to the whapping great locomotive and good display style. We were served by lovely volunteers, making the fees even more hard to swallow. Most 'competitors' are free entry! I can imagine that locals and schools etc pay little but putting the burden on outsiders is even more unfair. If you value it so, pay for it, Tiverton."
