I spent the day at another garden in Cornwall, Tregrehan Gardens. There’s a lovely Victorian glass house but with no where to sit, so the last 2 hours of my day were spent standing and drawing these pages 🌿

Visitors appreciate the value, the peaceful atmosphere, and the knowledgeable staff, often calling it a highlight of their Cornish visits. Some minor drawbacks include steep paths and limited restroom facilities during events.

"Outstanding. A hidden gem, a plantsman's paradise. Incredible collection of rare species in a beautiful setting. Well maintained for a private garden. Now my favourite Cornish garden having visited most of the well-known ones.
Small plant centre selling rarities at good prices. We had the garden virtually to ourselves which was a surprise. Will visit again as soon as possible. Lovely chatty member of staff. Thank you"

"Second visit here to watch an evening theatre performance. Well signposted, parking is good, food is available - though you can go early and have a picnic! Only slight word of warning Just one loo fir the jade's, one for the gents. The ladies queue half time was ENORMOUS. People missed the start other second half still waiting to get to the loo. Limit what you drink!"

"An exceptional garden, beautifully maintained with so many rare and interesting specimens especially from southeast Asia and New Zealand. 25 acres of surprises, from the walled garden and enormous Victorian greenhouse - full of colour and vigour although no longer artificially heated (bravo) - to the spectacular valley garden and stream lined with mature Dicksonia tree ferns. Every sign of a garden that's not in the least resting on its laurels (sorry...) but takes its conservation role very seriously, while also offering the visitor amazing views and spectacular blooms. I believe Tregrehan has more champion trees than Kew, which really says a lot. I would love to see it in camellia, bluebell and early rhododendron season; now there are a huge variety of rare hydrangeas and so much more. Staff are lovely too; there's no formal café-restaurant but tea, coffee, soft drinks and ice cream and nicely set up spaces to enjoy a picnic."
