Breezy Knees, just outside York, is an example of English horticultural eccentricity at its most extreme- and 3 cheers for that. Watch this and much more tomorrow night at 8 pm on BBC2. #british gardens

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Breezy Knees Gardens for its vastness, diverse themed sections, and beautiful seasonal displays, calling it a 'work of sheer dedication.' While the gardens themselves are a hit, some find the on-site cafe offerings and prices to be a bit disappointing, suggesting a picnic is a better option for value.

"Been to the plant centre many times but hadn’t visited the actual gardens until today. Fabulous place, could spend hours there even in late summer. Much bigger than you would expect, beautifully laid out with well designed paths and desire lines through various themed sections. When a bar of chocolate can cost £2 or £3 it’s great value too. Chips are delicious as well!"

Andy H

"A work of sheer dedication and hard graft. Absolutely beautiful gardens, hats off to its owners! 50 years a gardener and my first time visiting (July 2025). Knocks spots off many other "notable" gardens, imho. Not to be missed!!"

Marie Robson

"Spent a nice day going around gardens and having a spot of lunch. Garden entry £12:50 per adult (fairly reasonable), gardens are very nice and well worth a visit. Stopped for lunch in the café, £27:50 for two sandwiches a bowl of chips and two coffees, a tad expensive and the coffee was not the best. Plenty of benches in the gardens to have a picnic so to save some cash bring your own food"
