"This is NOT a review for Whalley Abbey East Gatehouse, which is owned by English Heritage - it is instead a review for Whalley Abbey Gardens. There seems to be some confusion. We struggled to find up to date information about Whalley Abbey on line so took a leap of faith and visited early in July 2022. We were so pleased that we did as we had an amazing time. We had coffee and home made scone in the lovely cafe, before spending at least 1.5hours walking around the gardens and ruins. The gardens are beautiful - so well designed, planted and cared for, mostly by volunteers, I think. The ruins are really interesting with information boards where needed. Something I found particularly wonderful were the vistas we were continually treated to, through arches, tree lined avenues, doorways etc. Would not hesitate to recommend and look forward to visiting again soon. The gardens are open 9am - 5pm and cost £3 for adults - less for others."

"I spent a weekend here with elders from my church on a spiritual retreat. Oh we had a lovely time. The place is very lovely and quite for a get away time with God or personal time for reflection. The lodge is great, the rooms a big and there is facility to house families in each room). The staffs are very lovely. I can't say much about the food as we are fasting all through our stay, however the children had nice meals. The area itself provides interesting sights. The foundation of the church and some of the wall are still intact. The onsite cafe is nice and provide souvenirs. It's a place worth visiting for personal time at least once in a year."
