"Whitley Bay Beach – A perfect blend of beauty, fun, and relaxation!
I recently visited Whitley Bay Beach and was absolutely impressed! This beach is a hidden gem on the northeast coast — clean, spacious, and full of charm. The golden sands stretch for miles and are perfect for long walks, building sandcastles, or just relaxing with the sound of the waves. The views, especially around sunset, are truly breathtaking.
What makes this place stand out is how well it’s maintained. The promenade is wide, modern, and lined with benches, ideal for a peaceful stroll or a break with a view. I noticed it was also quite accessible for wheelchairs and prams in most parts, which is a big plus.
Facilities are well thought out. There are clean public toilets, ample bins, and several small kiosks for snacks, coffee, or ice cream. During peak times, you’ll also find pop-up vendors and family-friendly amusements.
Right nearby is the beautifully restored Spanish City, a historic landmark with cafés, restaurants, and arcades — perfect if you want a break from the beach. We dined at an Italian restaurant nearby (highly recommend Trenchers inside Spanish City), and it was fantastic!
For families, there’s a large children’s play area and a safe, open space for games. If you’re into surfing or paddleboarding, the beach has designated areas and you’ll often see surfers enjoying the waves.
Parking can get a little tricky during sunny weekends, so I’d recommend arriving early. However, there are multiple paid parking spots available close to the promenade.
🎯 Highlights:
• Immaculately clean sand and water
• Gorgeous promenade and sea views
• Family-friendly play areas
• Nearby Spanish City for food, fun, and drinks
• Dog-friendly (except peak season restrictions)
• Great for sunrise/sunset walks
Whether you’re local or visiting the area, Whitley Bay Beach is absolutely worth your time. Peaceful during quieter days and full of life when the sun’s out – a true all-season destination. Highly recommended!
📸 Don’t forget your camera — it’s one of the most photogenic spots in the northeast!"

"Scenic with white sands and seems like favorite spot for locals and tourists. Many dog walkers about. And families and one single surfer. Promenade looks inviting and the cafes are nearby. With toilets. A great seaside town to spend the holidays... A day trip is recommended for those coming to Newcastle."
