What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Willow Holt Nature Reserve for its beautiful, well-maintained grounds and abundant birdlife, making it a peaceful escape. Its accessibility features are a significant plus for all visitors. The main drawback is the lack of on-site facilities like toilets or a cafe, and the car park's early closing time.
"A really gorgeous, out of the way but easy to find, nature reserve with plenty of birdwatching huts, benches, picnic tables, nice places to sit down and have a picnic or a chat, there is even some disabled and wheelchair friendly walkways. The lakes and other surrounding areas are clearly looked after and aid all natural wildlife in the area. Loads of different types of birds to be seen And actually a blissful, quiet place to escape. Child friendly, disabled friendly, elderly friendly, unfortunately no toilets or a café so do bring a warm drink and something to eat, however the car park is free so allows for a cheap day out- car park gates close at 5 pm, but believe the park is open to the public via walking 24/7."

"What a fantastic nature reserve this has become as it's now fully established. Plus you can get there on a cycle track from Collingham Trent Lane. Well worth a visit to observe the nature or have a simple peaceful walk."

"Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Site and SSSI: A beautifully kept reserve of ~170 acres based on a former gravel extraction site, split into two adjacent areas. Various paths, boardwalks, and viewing hides (southern area) provide good access to see the resident wildlife, including nesting cormorants. Wheelchair-friendly track, gates, and raised viewing screen overlooking one of the pools"
