We stopped off at RHS Wisley on our way back from Hilliers trees last week.  It has been over 30 years since Colvin and Moggridge were appointed to create a masterplan for the site in order to help encourage visitors to explore the full extent of the gardens.  While many areas of the site have been added to in the years since, we enjoyed talking to Hal Moggridge about the 1994 plans for the garde...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise RHS Garden Wisley for its stunningly maintained, vast, and diverse gardens, with highlights like the Glasshouse and Walled Garden frequently mentioned. The availability of cafes and picnic spots, along with friendly staff, enhances the experience. Some visitors wish for more dog-friendly events and better food options during specific evening events.

"Been meaning to go here for years and finally made it on what felt like the hottest day of the year so far. The gardens were beautifully maintained and the old house was a stunning backdrop to some of my photos. I particularly liked the fact there are several cafes dotted strategically around the grounds which enabled us to grab a tea or top up our water bottles as required. All told we had a lovely day out but be prepared for a long walk."

Steve Jones

"We attended an evening “walkies at Wisley” earlier in the week. What an amazing event. Beautiful gardens open to well behaved dogs (and owners) for an evening stroll. Thoroughly enjoyed it. So did our dog, who seemed to have a big smile on his face the whole time. We just wished we were able to come to the previous Walkies evenings. Please, please have more of these throughout the year. We also would have eaten here too if some of the cafes/restaurants were open, or even offered a pre-ordered picnic basket of sorts. Lines at the few mobile drinks/ice cream van spots were quite long. We saw some very inspiring people had brought picnics and were rather envious of their spread, sitting amongst the beautiful gardens. Very inspiring so we will plan better before next visit.

We will be back when we can bring our little doggy again. Please do consider adding more Walkies dates."

Alicia Essex

"Really amazing, lovely large gardens with lots of different themed sections. At the start they have a board telling you the current seasonal garden highlights which is really great. There is also lots of great information along the way too. The whole area was spacious so nowhere was too crowded. There is plenty of places to eat and drink too. We spent a full day there and would definitely visit again, our highlights were the trials garden, world food garden and the glass house."
