Reviews Summary

Visitors find Fort Abercrombie to be an interesting historical site, particularly for its focus on the 1862 conflict. While some note limited restored structures, the informative plaques, museum, and exceptionally engaging guided tours are consistently praised. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are a major highlight, making history accessible and fun for all ages.

"It's an interesting place, but just a few small fences and corner guard towers and one small building, but they did not restore much else. Good plaques around the site showing where the buildings were and explaining the history. There is not much to see here, except the museum. But it's a must visit for anyone who is interested in the 1862 conflict."

"We decided to make a quick detour to check out Fort Abercombie, it was well worth the visit! It is free to visit and do the self guided tour. However, please take the time to do the paid guided tour, it was interesting, informative, and our tour guide kept all ages in our group entertained. Well worth the price for adults and children. It was far more than just a few wooden buildings on grassland. The knowlege of all staff was amazing, and they were able to explain things in a relatable way. They even had the children visiting the hisorical site interacting and playing pioneer games that were played during the fort times. The site has been beautifully maintained and the grounds were nice to explore. This ended up being more than a quick trip as there was more to do and learn than we had thought!"

"A great way to spend 1+ hrs. touring the small museum and old fort grounds. The tour is worthwhile and very informative. The staff is super friendly!"
