Fishing at Abilene State Park
I'm going to Abilene State Park for the first time in a couple of weeks. I saw on their website you can fish at lake Abilene, but looking at google maps it looks dried up and the main road closed off. Is that still the case? Are there other areas to fish at out there?

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kirby Lake Park offers a welcoming entrance and a fun nature play area with a sand pit, making it a hit with families. However, the park's potential is hampered by poor road maintenance, overgrown areas, and concerns about the lake's water quality for swimming. Visitors appreciate the fishing dock and picnic facilities but note the need for significant upkeep.
"It's the forgotten lake! The entrance has curb appeal with an excellent inviting atmosphere. However, once you enter the back area where the lake is very secluded. The fishing dock is a nice touch but it's pretty much the only nice spot.
All the tree's and brush are overgrown. Most of the roads are not accessible due to poor maintenance. The holes are so big and deep, I wouldn't even take my 4x4 through them, leaving only a handful of areas available to fish or just sit and look over the water.
Other areas are pretty dangerous to drive over as well, with narrow roads and deep drop offs.
Then there's the trash! Trash is horrible! Trashy, trashy, trashy!"

"I've called parks and rec 3 times over the last few months about the big slide. Some kid is going to get cut up on it."
