I wanted a summer getaway but I didn’t want to waste time traveling, and a staycation at the historic @omnishorehamhotel felt like a world away. It’s bordered by Rock Creek Park and has beautiful grounds, in addition to a large pool. It was a fun way to explore Woodley Park a bit more too. I don’t go there very often, so I got to try new-to-me restaurants @donsak (which literally nearly 50 people...

PSA: DO NOT SWIM IN ROCK CREEK Or any of the District’s open waterways! Rock Creek Park is in my top 3 favorite places in DC, but the creek-part is just to be admired, not entered. Swimming was banned in the 1970s by the National Park Service due to dangerously high bacteria levels. The city uses a combined sewer system, meaning it carries BOTH rainwater and sewage. Heavy rain frequently causes ...

"Rock Mill Park (Alpharetta) is a gem—like a small jungle in the city. Towering, well-maintained trees and plenty of variety make every walk feel refreshing. The paved walkway is smooth and spacious, and there’s a clear path for bicycles too, so walkers, joggers, and cyclists can all enjoy it. On my visit the weather was perfect, and the shade from the big trees made it even better for relaxing, walking, or a light jog to keep up good health. Restrooms are clean and well kept, which is a big plus. Overall, an excellent, peaceful spot to recharge—highly recommended!"

"Beautiful parks and trails in Alpharetta!
Big Creek Park and Rock Mill Park are two of the best spots in Alpharetta for anyone who loves the outdoors. The Big Creek Greenway connects them, offering miles of shaded trails perfect for walking, running, or biking. The path is clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by nature—you’ll often see deer, turtles, and plenty of birds.
Rock Mill Park is a great starting point, with plenty of parking, restrooms, and a peaceful creek area that’s perfect for relaxing or taking photos. Big Creek Park has a bit more open space and access to longer trails, making it ideal for longer rides or walks.
Together, these parks create one of the nicest green spaces in the metro Atlanta area—safe, scenic, and great for all ages. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy some fresh air and beautiful Georgia scenery!"

"A nice little park in Alpharetta that connects to a few other trails including the Big Creek Greenway. Free to visit and suitable for biking, walking or jogging, this trail is maintained very well with a good number of amenities.

Even on a really hot day, the trail felt cooler as it had plenty of shade and a cool breeze blowing along the creek. I met a lot of people, some pushing their strollers, some biking or a few jogging but the trail was quiet for the most part. It's great for elders and pet-friendly as it's well-paved and flat mostly.

Amenities:
* Picnic tables
* Restrooms
* Bike rack
* Amphitheater
* Little Free Library
* Water fountains"
