1st visit to Ames on Sunday. How to get the best first impression?
I'll be coming into town early Sunday afternoon with my parents and would love to get input on things to do and see, where to eat, ect. We're doing the full day campus visit on Monday, and so I'm mainly looking for off campus advice. Thanks in advance!

New to ames, what are some activities to do?
The farmers market on the weekend is nice but parking can be a pain. Lots of beautiful parks to visit and trails to walk. Time out is an awesome arcade! There’s also pottery & cooking classes downtown. And an escape room too!

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors love the Ames Main Street Farmers' Market for its abundant fresh produce, unique artisan goods, and friendly atmosphere. The pet-friendly policy is a big plus for many. However, parking can be a significant challenge, and the lack of readily available public restrooms is a common point of dissatisfaction.
"If you go, go EARLY! Otherwise you will drive around for a minimum of 15 minutes looking for a parking spot. Also, 2 stars because they don’t have a community center or place with a public restroom. I asked a vendor where I could use a restroom and he told me a porta potty was at the opposite end - I told him never mind as that wasn’t happening. Various vendors but not as many as we expected…. Also, I don’t believe dogs should be allowed because there is always one that barks too much or growls at other dogs which is asking for a problem."
