One of the best shuttle rides in #anchorage is from the Glen Alps / Powerline Pass trailhead down through the scenic South Fork Rim trail and continuing through Far North Bicentennial Park. 12 miles; all downhill 😁 #chugachstatepark #anchorage #alaska #bikeanchorage #southforkrimtrail #hillside #singletrack #singletrackadvocates #downhill #fatbikesak #mtb #mtbalaska #fatbike

Bike-Friendly Trail 🚵‍♀️

Great for biking, especially downhill sections. Not technical, good for families. InstagramReddit

Check Trail Conditions ⚠️

Snow and mud can linger. Check recent reports before heading out. Reddit

Went out to Powerline Pass — Fish and Game officers were transporting a bull moose off the trail maybe a mile back and advised us to turn around due to the presence of three grizzly bears in the area. You don’t need to tell me twice 😂😂 #hikinginalaska #alaskahiking #bearcountry

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Powerline Pass Trail for its stunning Alaskan beauty, accessible trails suitable for families and bikers, and the thrill of wildlife sightings. The gradual uphill to a rewarding lake destination and the fun downhill return are frequently highlighted. Some note the potential for crowded parking and the need to be prepared for unpredictable weather and wildlife encounters.

"Sept. 24th 2023 We biked the Powerline pass trail as a family (6 of us, kids ages 14, 12, 10 and 3 who rode on the bike with a parent). We started at the Glen Alps/Flattop lower parking lot and it was very crowded in the parking lot and the first part of the trail. The farther we rode the more it thinned out until we saw hardly anyone. It was a gradual uphill all the way to the lake with some up hills and and down hills. Stupidly, I don’t know how many miles it was to the lake. The lake was an awesome destination and well worth the final push. It took us about 2.5 hours to bike to the lake, with lots of stops and exploring. The way back was so fast, we hardly had to pedal at all and we got back to the car in under an hour. We didn’t realize how much of an uphill it was until we coasted all the way back! We got hot and we got very cold due to the uphill workouts and sweating and faster down hills. Go prepared for any weather, use layers. Very doable for kids (not technical) but took lots of effort and some coaxing and pushing through exhausted tears, but the lake was magical (even in the rain) and the way back was pure fun! All in all the kids loved it, as did the adults."
