What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Market House in Annapolis offers a prime downtown location and a modern, industrial vibe, with many visitors praising its friendly service and unique Amish market offerings like pretzel logs. However, some reviews suggest that the seafood quality doesn't always match the prime setting, with mixed opinions on lobster rolls and crab cakes. The hand-cut fries and crab dip are consistently highlighted as delicious, though restroom cleanliness has been noted as a drawback.
"Market House enjoys a prime location in downtown Annapolis, offering a clean, industrial vibe and a lively, modern atmosphere. It’s clearly designed to appeal to the tourist crowd—with an attractive setting and friendly, efficient service—but the food, unfortunately, doesn’t live up to the promise.
The lobster roll was a letdown. Served cold with a bland, creamy dressing, it lacked the warm, buttery richness typically associated with a great lobster roll. The addition of lettuce felt misplaced, diluting the texture. While the portion of lobster was generous and the bun decently toasted, the overall flavor and execution fell flat.
The crab cake entrée was similarly underwhelming. Though visually appealing with large chunks of crab, the cake lacked cohesion and fell apart with each bite. The crab itself wasn’t sweet or delicate, and the texture missed the mark—neither tender nor flaky. Most notably, it lacked seasoning, which was surprising for a Maryland crab cake and left it without the bold, briny flavor you’d expect from a regional staple.
On a brighter note, the hand-cut fries were crisp, salty, and satisfying—easily the best part of the meal. Service throughout was friendly and prompt, helping to keep the experience efficient, even if not especially memorable.
In the end, Market House feels more like a trendy pit stop for tourists than a destination for standout Mid-Atlantic seafood. If you’re a local or a food lover looking for authenticity and flavor, you’ll likely walk away disappointed. It’s fine for a casual drink or a quick bite, but not for a memorable culinary experience."

"This was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in the United States. The crab dip was more than amazing. I had the fish and chips which was succulent with enough food for two. My daughter had the burger and she was raving about it. The service was fast and the server was so nice and we were eating on a Saturday night"

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
For a more interactive experience, keep an eye out for special events like the Naptown Flea, which can offer a more engaging atmosphere for children with music and diverse vendors.
