What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hikers consistently praise Massacre Grounds Trail for its stunning seasonal waterfall and breathtaking Superstition Mountain views. The moderate difficulty and rewarding destination make it a popular choice, though visitors should be prepared for crowds and the need for careful navigation due to less-than-ideal trail markings. Arriving early is key to a more enjoyable experience.
"Awesome hike! The falls were beautiful and really flowing. Pretty easy to moderate trail. A few tough spots here and there but as long as you have good shoes, you'll be fine. Well worth the hike. Took about an hour and a half to get to the falls."

"Attempt to arrive prior to 8am as parking fills up rather quickly. The road in is unpaved but maintained. My AWD Challenger was just fine. Trails with falling water always bring out bigger crowds. The incline was gradually forgiving and moderate. Some of the pathing has loose rock, and if not paying attention, you may get misdirected. That being said, the multiple rock formations, rock textures, shaded areas, and the endpoint being a cliff of falling water, Massacre Falls Trail is a trail that should be on your local bucket list. Superstition Mountains are my favorite in the valley."
Michael “Maranara” Maragliano
"Beautiful hike after the rain. Look up Massacre Falls Trail on the AllTrails app and make sure you download the offline map, because cell service can be spotty. It's a moderate hike that is pretty popular when the falls are running. There's not a ton of shade, so plan accordingly. About 6 miles round trip"
