What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Gulf Branch Nature Center's engaging live animal exhibits and the charm of its historic blacksmith forge and log cabin. The shaded trails are a hit for walks, and many appreciate the educational aspects for children. However, the extremely limited parking and potential accessibility issues for strollers can be significant drawbacks for some families.
"Beautiful little place with many local animals to look at in their mini-zoo. Turtles, snakes, birds, and more. There is also a great play space on the top floor with toys and a puppet theater, and bottom floor has blocks and coloring. Good shade in the summer on the walking trails, and love dipping our feet in the creek to cool off, as well."

"Best nature center in the DMV ;)! Been volunteering here for around a year now, staff are friendly, trails are nice, and theres an abundance of wildlife from frogs to salamanders to lizards, snakes, deer, birds, and more!"

"I took my son to a toddler class here. First, it’s a one way road going up to the actual nature center and an Arlington County truck almost ran us off the road. When you get there there’s room for a handful of cars and then absolutely nowhere to park so parked in a no parking spot but wasn't blocking anyone/was only there for a 45 minute class. Was told to load my kids back into the car and park a quarter mile down the road. The class had already started. We would have missed half the class and it was not worth it so we left. Not stroller accessible (no ramp, no strollers allowed inside) so really hard for moms with young kids. We had a bad experience. My toddler left in tears because he wanted to visit the nature center--we won't be back."
