"We have passed this town for over 40 years and have never taken the time to stop. But thanks to Geocaching, we finally did and discovered a hidden gem in the desert of Ash Fork. This museum is located just off the I40 and is a must-stop for anyone interested in the historical background of the famous Route 66 Highway, as well as the history of this town. The museum is full of memorabilia of “days-gone-by” just itching to tell their stories. Inside the museum is a visitor center, a sort of gift shop, a restroom and a hanger full of history. In addition, just outside of the building is the Ash Fork Historic Walk as well as an old fire engine and farm/manufacturing equipment. We learned that this entire visitor center and museum is staffed by volunteers who have given their time and effort to let us all experience a little bit of history. We wish to recognize the volunteer that we met that day, unfortunately we forgot his name. It was on a Wednesday late afternoon and we know he was a Marine in Vietnam back in 1966-1967. He was a wonderful person, extremely friendly, entertaining and so willing to answer any questions we had about the history of the town. This is truly worth the time to visit and would recommend you plan to spend at least an hour or better yet, two, to fully enjoy and ingest what is found inside this oasis in the desert."

If you are visiting the area, this should be your first stop to find out all the places to go and see. Place is full of information about the area and Route 66 not just for Ash Fork but the surrounding cities as well."
