What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Botanical Gardens at Asheville for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful native plants, and the serene creek. Many appreciate the free admission and the well-maintained trails, making it a delightful spot for a relaxing stroll or quiet contemplation. Some find it less expansive than larger, paid gardens, but acknowledge its charm as a local gem.
"The Botanical Gardens offer a peaceful retreat filled with native plants, winding trails, and the calming sounds of nature. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing walk, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying the beauty of the region’s flora.
The paths are easy to navigate, and there are benches tucked away for sitting and soaking in the scenery. I especially loved the stream running through the garden—it adds such a tranquil touch. It’s clear that the space is well cared for and loved by the community.
Whether you’re a nature lover, a photographer, or just looking to unwind, this spot is a must-visit. And the best part? It’s free to explore, with donations welcome to support their mission. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Asheville! 🌼🌲"

"The Asheville Botanical Garden was just okay—not bad, but not particularly memorable either. The setting is peaceful and there are some nice native plants, but the overall layout felt a bit underwhelming. It’s more of a nature walk than a full garden experience, and it didn’t seem very well maintained in some areas. There weren’t many signs or labels on the plants, which made it less informative than expected. It’s a pleasant place for a short stroll, and admission is free, which is a plus. However, if you’re expecting a more curated or expansive botanical experience, this might not meet your expectations. It’s fine for a quick visit, but not something I’d go out of my way to see again."

"Not as full as larger, paid gardens, but that's nothing to complain about, especially when this is free. It's a nice area and the parking isn't bad unless there's an event. There are some pretty sights here, and it's very interesting to see all of the labeled species of plants.
Definitely check out the cherry blossom tree by the bridge, and also the creek, which you are able to walk in. There's an accessible loop trail that isn't too long."
