Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Atlanta History Center for its comprehensive look at Atlanta's past, beautiful grounds, and engaging exhibits like the Swan House and Cyclorama. Many highlight the immersive experience at Smith Farm and the educational value for all ages. Some guests note that the presence of many children running in non-designated areas can detract from the museum experience, and a few have found the gift shop selection lacking.

"This is a really good place to visit if you are in Atlanta and want to understand its past. The location is perfect and the grounds are beautiful. Everyone should see the Cyclorama, the Swan House and Olympics area. There was a great exhibit on Hank Aaron as well.

My only negative is that there are too many kids that are allowed to run around the museum and treat it like it is a playground. This is not specific to the kids section. Inside the Swan House, there was a group of half a dozen kids running up and down the stairs. Inside the Hank Aaron exhibit, there was a group of young kids seemingly on a field trip running laps and playing. I don't think I ever saw one museum employee the entire time. It really takes away from the experience of a museum.

I also want to point out that the gift shop could use better options also. We were looking for a magnet of the Center and could not find one. This is rare for a museum of this type."

"The Atlanta History Center was genuinely one of the most incredible places I have ever set foot in. We learned so much in the span of the couple hours we were there. As visitors from Orlando, the Atlanta History Center really allowed us to experience Atlanta culture and the rich history that the city has. We did the guided tour of the Smith Farm and our tour guide was great - she also tended the farm along with a man who I don’t remember the name of. Both of them were so sweet and made our trip very memorable. We also got to pet some adorable goats at the farm. The one thing I will say is, get there early and plan to spend the day. We thought we would be able to get through the museum in 3 hours but we weren’t able to explore the gardens and a few of the exhibits due to time. We plan to visit again and explore the rest of the AHC. This visit was the highlight of our trip. Thank you to everyone who makes this place possible, and the experience so surreal. To get to experience this was a privilege."

"We had a wonderful time. We especially love how much the history center encompasses with the Swan House and trails and farm houses and main exhibits. We spent a while walking the trails. We also really enjoyed the Cyclorama oil painting. The exhibit complements the painting extremely well. The employees were kind, especially Jack who helped set up our visit in the perfect way."
