**Edit- Doesnt have to be Larimer county, just somewhere relatively close. His grandfather passed this onto us and I feel there's no reason he can't learn. Was looking for a place other than a range to teach my son the basic mechanics and safety of shooting. Ranges are fine I…

Impromptu road trips, or, what the hell goes on in Eastern Colorado
Hi all, my girlfriend and I decided on somewhat of a whim to take a day trip out into the hinterlands east of Denver. Why? No particular reason. I guess it sounds whimsical or unusual to do so, rather than explore the mountains and other biomes Colorado is known for. We've kind…
Best outdoor spot for target practice ?
I understand target practice (with a handgun) is allowed on US forest land. Does anyone know a good and safe spot closeby to Boulder (Arapaho / rosevelt national Forrest) area that would be a nice and secluded spot for some shooting ?
Shake Out Your Shoes! 🦂
Scorpions are present. Always shake out your shoes and bedding before use, especially if camping.
Respect Wildlife 🦌
Observe animals from a distance. Be aware of pronghorn and other native species.
Closest BLM Land?
Anyone know where the closest BLM land is to FTC? I’d like to practice shooting more and avoid dropping $25 just to use a range for an hour.

"Very interesting and expansive public lands for exploring and enjoying peach and tranquility. Wide open views to just take some time and slow down and enjoy everything. While dispersed camping we enjoyed coyotes sipping and howling and different groups responding back and forth while enjoying amazing sunset. Also lots of bird and antelope. Keep an eye out for scorpions and make sure to shake your shoes out before putting them on in the morning."
