What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Seip Earthworks for its historical significance and free admission, offering a valuable glimpse into the Hopewell culture. The scenic riverbanks and abundant wildlife are highlights, though the lack of shade and restrooms requires preparation. It's a peaceful spot for learning and reflection.
"Great place to learn about the history of the Hopewell people. You can watch a 20 minute video at the welcome center when you arrive. You can then walk the trail and grounds among the mounds and surrounding area. The outer trail takes you close to the Scioto River where you can imagine what it was like to walk in to the complex like the Hopewell did 2000 years ago. The rivers edge has some of the biggest Cottonwood trees that you will ever see along the trail. There is no admission fee and is definitely worth the stop."

"Come on a cloudy day because the entire trail has no shade at all, and do not plan to follow the AllTrails map because it is completely different. There are no bathrooms, but there is a little shelter up at the very front by the front lot. You can drive down the road and there are places to pull into that have picnic tables and those areas are shaded. The trail is marked but actual distance is dependent on which way you go."
Patricia Burton (Trish)
"Nice park with great information boards about the enclosures and mound. Dogs allowed. No paved trails but lawn is maintained well. Also has picnic tables, trash bins, dog waste station and water fountain. Paved parking."
