Is it "worth it" to visit Baker City to stay at the Geiser Grand Hotel?
For context, I'm not from Oregon & have never lived there, but love to visit. (I've only been once - it was in May of 2021.) I spent a few days in Portland, and then a couple days at Heceta Head Lighthouse B&B. I absolutely loved the entire experience, and intend on…

Vintage dinner menu for the Geiser Grand Hotel, Baker City, Sunday July 8, 1905
Stayed at this hotel a few years ago, it was awesome. Highly recommend trips to eastern Oregon and staying at the old hotels out there. Most cities and towns have renovated and comfortable vintage hotels.

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests are consistently impressed by the Geiser Grand Hotel's stunning historic architecture and charming Victorian ambiance, often calling it a unique and elegant experience. While some rooms show signs of age, the overall atmosphere, friendly staff, and convenient downtown location make it a memorable stay for many, with repeat visits being common.
"We had been by Baker City, OR several times and had never even slowed down. This past September we were making a trip and were looking for a good stopping point. Baker City fit the bill, when I was checking on places to stay the Geiser Grand Hotel Popped up. A quick tour of their website told me this was a unique place, so I made a reservation for my wife and myself.
I was blown away when I got there. Talk about charm, I knew the minute we stepped into the Lobby we were in for a treat. We were greeted quickly with a friendly smile and a welcome. Our room was very nice and quaint which matched the Vibe of the hotel.
We had a bit of the time and toured the town which was very walkable. We met and chatted with several of the local merchants and found them all very friendly and welcoming. We learned there was a house in town that was built by a Scotsman to look like a castle to remind him of his homeland. We got the location and on the way out of town we saw it.
My last words as we left were "We will see you again in November." Here it is November and we have booked it again on our return trip home looking forward to returning."

"I've always wanted to stay at the Geiser Grand, having seen the billboards on the highway for years. I'm so glad we were finally able to do so.
Is the hotel perfect? No. Is it wonderful for what it is? Yes!
The hotel is beautiful. The architecture, the wood work, the layout, the glass ceiling, etc. It's very romantic despite my feelings of what I would do to the place if I had an unlimited budget. The reality is, this place is really great if you like history, if you like a bit of historic elegance, if you like a fantastic location for an extremely easy walk to fantastic restaurants like Barley Browns. There are amazing restaurants and cocktail lounges just outside the hotel's door. All in all, I am extremely happy we got to stay here and I can't wait to come back."

"The hotel has a gorgeous interior. It is conveniently located downtown. My room was the Cupola room. It was large and the bed comfortable. Sometimes I have stayed in historic hotels and they smell musty, but my room and the hotel did not. There's a very charming balcony and library on the 2nd floor which I availed myself of. The bar is small, yet airy and had excellent food and solid drinks. The staff were very friendly, particularly the valets. Being a downtown hotel, you'll need to plan for either on-street parking, or use their valet that secures your vehicle in their lot. For $12 that's a very reasonable valet and what I used. They have a pretty good gift shop that you should visit before checking out."
