What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Craigville Beach is a beloved spot on Cape Cod, praised for its warmer waters and beautiful harbor views, making it ideal for swimming and relaxing. Visitors appreciate the nearby charm of Centerville Village and the occasional lively beach parties. However, the high parking fees and thick, grainy sand are common drawbacks, and the beach can become very crowded during peak times.
"Cool little beach 🏖and it's only 7 min from my house (we're new to the area) it was our first time visiting Craigsville Beach and we had a great time we arrived at 4pm and it wasn't too crowded, the water 🌊was warm compared to what I was expecting and my family actually went swimming! 🤽♀️First time actually swimming in the ocean this summer! I will say the only Con's to my experience was the porta potty and the sand was... idk thick? Or made up of bigger grains causing us to not be able to make a sand castle it was more like sand lump lol and it's pretty difficult to walk in. Overall, we had a nice time and will be returning for sure! 🌊🦑"

"It’s a great beach to see the sunset (during winter’s time) about the beach, is not as great as I’m used to but one of the best in Cape Cod. During the summer you have access to the restrooms and there are lifesavers as well. There’s plenty of space to park your car too."
Joel Richards
"I would have given 5 stars, but the parking went up to 25 dollars a day to swim and enjoy the beach. Way to much and I think it's just greed taking over the cape , just like every where else now 😕."

Navigating Craigville Beach: Parking & Access
While there's no direct entrance fee to walk onto the beach, the parking cost is the primary barrier to entry for many. For those without a car, public transportation on Cape Cod is limited, making a personal vehicle or ride-sharing service the most practical options. The beach itself is a wide, sandy expanse, though the sand's texture can be a bit thick and grainy, making it less ideal for intricate sandcastle building.
Beyond the main beach area, the surrounding Centerville Village offers a charming historical atmosphere. It's a short walk from the beach and features unique shops, including the well-known 1856 Country Store and the popular Four Seas Ice Cream parlor, providing a pleasant diversion after a day in the sun.
Beach Experience: Water, Sand, and Amenities
While the sand is a defining feature, its thick, coarse nature means it's less suitable for traditional sandcastle construction. Instead, visitors might find it easier to create 'sand lumps' or simply enjoy the expansive shoreline for walking and playing. The beach is equipped with porta-potties, and during the peak season, more permanent restrooms with showers are available. However, the outdoor showers are noted to have a weak mist, which might not be very effective for rinsing off sand.
Beyond swimming and sunbathing, Craigville Beach is also a popular spot for kite surfing. The open space and wind conditions make it an attractive location for this water sport. For those looking for a more relaxed experience, the beach offers beautiful panoramic harbor views, especially captivating during sunset.
Community Vibes & Local Events
Seagulls are a notable presence, and as one TikTok video humorously points out, they can be quite assertive! This adds a touch of local character to the beach experience. The beach also occasionally offers unique wildlife viewing opportunities; there have been reports of baby narwhals spotted off the coast, a rare and exciting sight for beachgoers.
Real estate listings often highlight the proximity to Craigville Beach, indicating its desirability as a location. Homes near the beach are marketed as turnkey properties, emphasizing the lifestyle benefits of living close to this popular Cape Cod destination. This suggests that the beach is not only a recreational spot but also a key feature of the local community's appeal.
