Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton, OK. This was our first official stop after spending the night here. My Dad wore his Route 66 shirt to commemorate the start of the tour. So many fascinating things to learn about the Mother Road! We got a preview of all the stops we’d make here, including a picture of the Blue Swallow Motel, where we’d stay later that very night. #route66 #route66roadtrip #rou...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Route 66 Mother Road Museum for its free admission and rich collection of memorabilia, offering a genuine glimpse into the Mother Road's history. While some note limited hours and occasional less-than-stellar staff interactions, the overall sentiment is that it's a worthwhile and nostalgic stop for any Route 66 enthusiast.

"This great little Route 66 museum is part of the Harvey House Barstow and is located at the northwest end of the building. There is free parking at the east entrance door, which faces north. This is not the largest Route 66 museum we have been too, but it is absolutely worth the visit for those who love the history of Route 66. The museum is full of old Route 66 memorabilia, photos, automobiles, buggies, signs, and old fashion furniture, clothing and everyday household appliances. There is a small gift shop area at the front information desk, where you will be asked to sign in, but the museum is completely free. However, if you wish to make a small donation to the privately owned museum, then feel free to do so. The operating hours of the museum are limited, and we advise you check their website or call them before your visit to avoid any disappointment. The only complaint we had with this visit was the staff member behind the information desk. This lady was not very friendly, helpful and she never stopped eating during our visit and that was close to a full hour and always talking with her mouth full so you could not understand anything she was saying. She was totally unprofessional and made the visit a little less enjoyable. Still, for all you Route 66 fans, this is worth the visit and hopefully she will be done eating before your visit."

"I saw that the museum was open from a YouTuber who I follow, Sara-Jane, also known as Wonderhussy Adventures. No entrance fee so make sure to leave a donation and/or buy some merchandise from the very friendly and knowledgeable workers. They are happy to answer questions and share information with you.

On our way to Vegas I planned a stop here and checked their open hours on Google Maps to make sure we'd get to see the museum. I'm glad we stopped in! The museum had more exhibits and artifacts than I had expected. We spent about an hour going through it and also looking at the merch they have for sale (bought a cool Route 66 T-shirt). Stop here on your way through Barstow! The Train Museum (next to the Route 66 Museum) was also on my list to visit but they were closed on the Tuesday I was passing by. I'll make it there the next time I'm in the area again."

Donald Manchip

"Fun experience on our mini road trip. Lots of history to explore. Was very surprised there was no fee to enter, that was a plus and the pink Cadillac was great to see. Nice stop to add to our adventures for the day."
