What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
DeWitt Recreation Area is praised for its beautiful fall foliage and scenic lakeside trails, offering a peaceful escape. Visitors appreciate the opportunities for walking, biking, and fishing. However, concerns have been raised about the condition of the playground equipment, and the park's no-dog policy is a drawback for some.
"This park is simply beautiful during the fall as the foliage turns colors. It was a cloudy and rainy day but the burst of colors made it worth visiting.
The lake is beautiful and is somewhat of a horseshoe shape. I love the seating and views along the lakeside trail.
There is a playground for children 10 and under. I say that because the equipment is not for older kids. They have 3 pavilions, two are large and the smaller one is near the lake. There are restrooms near pavilions.
You can also rent kayaks by downloading an app.
I absolutely love the trail but it has small asphalt like gravel but there is also a 1/4 mile asphalt trail in park. The trail can also be used as bike trail.
I highly recommend visiting this park/recreation area if in Batavia."

"One of my favorite places in Batavia. So pretty and nice for walks and bikes rides, especially now that it connects to the Ellicot trail. Decent playground and pavilions. Good place to catch sunfish. The parks department puts on some neat programming here sometimes."

"I love the views of the water and fishing with my dad. They have made great improvements on the park. Downside, no dogs allowed. My mom. Use to walk her dog there all the time but you no longer can."
