A black bear charged my sister and me on Bear Mountain in Alaska! We thought it was a Lynx because it was hissing. We yelled hey bear for a least 7 minutes! We couldn't see anything, and the bear was where we needed to go to get down... We heard something in front of us and behind us with only 8 seconds of spray... Then the bear came charging around the corner. I fell holding the puppy when I came...

"Awesome, absolutely awesome. You definitely should visit this place. During good weather you will have a great view onto the surrounding area, the Hudson River and far in the south to the Skyline of NYC. The Trails are great for hicking. Go for it..."

Niels Eichhorn

"Moderately hard hike with stunning views of the Hudson River along the wall up. The summit was super scenic and you can see all the other mountains next to Bear Mountain. I recommend to start hiking during the early morning as around afternoon the trail gets crowded with people ascending and descending. Would climb this mountain again."

crabby mcpatty

"A great spot to visit. It’s not crazy far from the city either. We parked at the top and made the loop down to the lake and then back up to the parking bluff.

The leaves are already changing and falling. The hike is not super easy. Don’t take grandma! Steep inclines and different terrain.

Granite everywhere. They should have named it ‘Granite Mtn’."
